STOP! Slim K waves la “Vague Blanche”.

STOP! Slim K waves la “Vague Blanche”. Slim K joins celebrities and intellectuals in France's “Vague Blanche” (white wave) campaign, to protest the violence in Syria and the Bashar Assad regime against humanity.

The message is “Stop”. They are many of the most prominent celebrities of the French art, entertainment and intellectual scene. Last night (Tuesday, Apr 17th, 2012), protesters in Paris met at 7.00 pm at the Trocadero Square to demonstrate and raise white sheets to call for the immediate halt of bloodshed in Syria.

Famous names such as actresses Sophie Marceau, Juliette Binoche, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Catherine Deneuve, singers amongst whom Jane Birkin, Youssou N’dour, intellectual Stephane Hessel, director Costa Gavras and so many more celebrities and influential people have started an online campaign called “White Wave”, and so did Singer-songwriter Slim K.

The movement began on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vague-Blanche-pour-la-Syrie/148989415227675 where renowned personalities have posted their portraits of them holding a white placard with the world “stop”.

Journalist Edith Bouvier who was previously held in Homs and released after her injury in February is also part of the campaign.

The online campaign aims to promote Tuesday’s rally but also hopes to show solidarity with the Syrian people. The initial idea was proposed by photographer Sarah Moon and was adopted in nearly three weeks by main figures of sports, art, fashion, culture and science in France.

Campaigners ask activists to join them on the street or protest from their homes where they can hang a white sheet with the word “stop” on their windows and upload their picture on the campaign site, all in an effort to end what they call the barbaric crimes in Syria.

The campaign is also endorsed and supported by the International Federation for Human Rights http://www.fidh.org/-english- and the Human Rights League. http://www.ilhr.org/
