STOP! Slim K waves la “Vague Blanche”.

STOP! Slim K waves la “Vague Blanche”. Slim K joins celebrities and intellectuals in France's “Vague Blanche” (white wave) campaign, to protest the violence in Syria and the Bashar Assad regime against humanity.

The message is “Stop”. They are many of the most prominent celebrities of the French art, entertainment and intellectual scene. Last night (Tuesday, Apr 17th, 2012), protesters in Paris met at 7.00 pm at the Trocadero Square to demonstrate and raise white sheets to call for the immediate halt of bloodshed in Syria.

Famous names such as actresses Sophie Marceau, Juliette Binoche, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Catherine Deneuve, singers amongst whom Jane Birkin, Youssou N’dour, intellectual Stephane Hessel, director Costa Gavras and so many more celebrities and influential people have started an online campaign called “White Wave”, and so did Singer-songwriter Slim K.

The movement began on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vague-Blanche-pour-la-Syrie/148989415227675 where renowned personalities have posted their portraits of them holding a white placard with the world “stop”.

Journalist Edith Bouvier who was previously held in Homs and released after her injury in February is also part of the campaign.

The online campaign aims to promote Tuesday’s rally but also hopes to show solidarity with the Syrian people. The initial idea was proposed by photographer Sarah Moon and was adopted in nearly three weeks by main figures of sports, art, fashion, culture and science in France.

Campaigners ask activists to join them on the street or protest from their homes where they can hang a white sheet with the word “stop” on their windows and upload their picture on the campaign site, all in an effort to end what they call the barbaric crimes in Syria.

The campaign is also endorsed and supported by the International Federation for Human Rights http://www.fidh.org/-english- and the Human Rights League. http://www.ilhr.org/

Slim K joins Real Men Don't Buy Girls Campaign (DNA - The Demi and Ashton Foundation)

The DNA Foundation launched a campaign targeting men with the message that Real Men Don't Buy Girls. The goal of the campaign was to create a cultural shift around the implicit societal acceptance of child prostitution, and thus, child sex slavery. We hoped to reach millions of people with information about the issue. More than 2 million people have participated in the campaign so far. Here are some of the people who took a stand with us! To join us, go to www.facebook.com/dnafoundation

Slim K is a real man.

-----

DNA - The Demi and Ashton Foundation -- A campaign started a little over a year ago, it aims to eliminate child sex slavery worldwide. Believing that freedom is a fundamental human right, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher founded DNA to help raise awareness about this horrific problem, change cultural stereotypes and rehabilitate the innocent victims. I' am glad and honored to take a stand, NOT only on Sex Slavery, but as well against Female abuse in general, against opression, domestic violence, beating, rape, Religious opression (like Burqas and Niqabs), prostituion, injustice and inequality against females of all ages, nationalites and races. *PLEASE Get informed and support anyway you can: http://demiandashton.org/

Today, more than twelve million people worldwide are enslaved. An estimated two million children are bought and sold in the global commercial sex trade. The sex slavery industry has become an increasingly important revenue source for organized crime because each young girl can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for her pimp. http://demiandashton.org/get-informed

The sad Truth about Lebanon and it's Religious divide

MUST READ: (from Global Secular Humanist Movement) The sad Truth about Lebanon and it's Religious divide, yet another proof and fact, to keep RELIGION out of Governments by any means necessary!!

With a total surface of 10,452 km2 and 4 millions people, there are 17 state-recognized religious sects. This is their percentages according to the CIA fact-book: Muslim 59.7% (Shia, Sunni, Druze, Isma'ilite, Alawite or Nusayri), Christian 39% (Maronite Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Melkite Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Syrian Catholic, Armenian Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Chaldean, Assyrian, Coptic, Protestant), other 1.3%. Lebanon is a parliamentary democratic republic in which the highest offices are proportionately reserved for representatives from certain religious communities.

Yes, we vote our representatives according to their religion -and not their abilities- who then vote the higher posts also according to the candidate's religion, for example the President must be a Maronite Christian, the Speaker of the Parliament a Shia Muslim the Prime Minister a Sunni Muslim. And the political parties are not even worthy of being called political parties, they are over 70 and most of them are restricted to a certain religion. So you can imagine how terrible our economy is...

I don't even know where to start with how religion rules everything in Lebanon, even the basic things such as getting into a university or applying for a job. We don't even have civil marriage in Lebanon. During the civil war we killed people according to what their ID said that their religion is (yes we have our religion written on our ID). There are Christian schools as well as Muslim ones who teach children that the opposite of a Christian is a Muslim. Lebanon is mostly seen on the news for being into so much wars, specially back in 2006 against Israel. Now, because Jews are considered bad people in the Koran (or at least that's the alibi they use) Hizbollah has taken it as his responsibility to fight the state of Israel. Now I mentioned the religious alibi and not the humanist way of viewing this war because if it was so, any Lebanese no matter what religion he belongs to, should be allowed to participate in the fight against Israel or let's just say go to the borders and fire a gun, but he's not.

The resistance became strictly Shiite which wasn't the case before. The problem is that young people are not learning from their parent's mistakes. Even when asked what are you? a typical Lebanese guy/girl will answer you by their religion and never by "Lebanese". It's scary what this country is becoming, I would turn on the TV sometimes and see college students throwing rocks at each other because their political party lost at the campus elections. And Atheists as myself are seen as, or at least in my case, an embarrassment to their family.

I'm not sure if this is what you asked me to write, so just tell me on what subject would you like me to present more facts or arguments and I'll be more then glad to do so. And excuse my English, I'm still working on it.

-------------
Written by Sayde Bahsa from Lebanon, about her country when asked about how is it there ? Thank you Sayde!

There's definitely more to life than religion (by Slim Khezri)

There's definitely more to life than religion, fancy terms like "COEXIST" are unrealistic and is nothing more than wishful thinking. I had been to a lot of places and seen how different people do things. I believe that there is no absolute truth or morality. If I kill a mouse in your kitchen, is that a moral thing to do? How do we prove (or disapprove) that life is an illusion? If God is omnipotent, can he create a rock that he cannot lift? Religion can act as a discipline to enhance our abilities (meditation, exercises etc), to promote spiritual well-being (meditation and prayer) and to unify and organize the masses (religious institutions, laws etc ) ... Religion and faith is there to give us hope, God above all (no matter what Religion), should be about love and comfort and NOT about fear. There are many things wrong, with all Religions, and there are unfortunately many out there using this against the uneducated, desperate and the poor. Religion is about truth and morality. Truth and morality? truth and morality according to who ? proper way of life ? proper according to who ? Conflicting religious philosophies can create friction in couples but even more so between families and entire societies.

Not a make or break issue but something to consider anyway. We are humans, so we still have to do things that humans do, regardless of religion. Our lives are about circumstances, chances, situations, emotions and thought, it is fair to say impossible to live by a "book", religion may be an instruction booklet to help, but won't solve any of your miseries reality. So yes, religion should not have total control over our lives. Everyone is free to believe whatever they want and I don't want to interfere with it but I ask Religious individuals not to impose their beliefs on me or anyone else, unless asked to do so. I don't live for religion, I live for life !!!

As a Tunisian for example, I feel nothing but disappointment and sadness for the failure of that country, people over there naively, thought by getting rid of a Dictator, life will be better ..and to make matters worse, they elect a Religious party into Government, seems ridiculous beyond believe. The problem with these radical islamists, is that they are so backward on every aspect of life.. so wrong, that their actions are more of a turn off too many (who might honestly interested in Faith), it certainly makes me run away as far as possible. I have never in my life ever questioned religion or god.. never in my life, and now after years of soul searching, being much more aware and mature, by connecting the dots, an open minded approach and a clearer sight, I find myself curious, asking and questioning more than ever, and that is not the result of Christians, Jews, Atheists or anyone else, it's the result of the so called Muslim movement, which makes me puke every time I see, read or hear from them. I've been traveling all my life, all over the world, and I never felt comfortable around my own so called people or "Muslim" brothers, I think it's very sad. Christians, Jews or anyone else never attacked nor judged me, I never had any religious or racial problems, but these people (so called "Muslim brothers") seem to interfere all the time, they seem angry, aggressive and complaining non stop about their rights and equality and I know it's a shtick, they don't care either but they are happy to play and use the same weapons, the west created against them to bring them on to their knees, it's different kind of terrorism, a new and improved "jihad".

They want salafism, sharia law and more .. this has nothing to do about Islam or God, it's about power and world domination, but yet their actions remind me of inquisitions in the Dark Ages, if that is true Islam, the true 100% teachings of the prophet, god and religion, the way it's meant to be, then very well.. I don't wanna be part of this .. not for one minute longer!

About Slim K - Timeline/ Biography

Slim K — (*born Slim Khezri, 18 July 1972, as the oldest of three children in Lübeck Hansestadt, Schleswig-Holstein) is a German entertainer; a singer, songwriter, writer and actor of Tunisian origins, based in Los Angeles, California. An artistic polymath and all-round talent with an experience of twenty-plus years in music, film, theater, writing, photography and design.

Slim was the first born son of Mohamed Laziz Khezri (Tunisian, Hotelier, immigrated to Switzerland and later to Germany, in 1969) and Dalila (Tunisian, born Khemiri), followed by two further sisters. He began singing and dancing at the age of 10, His mother acknowledged early on and supported his artistic talent. His father introduced him to the golden age of cinema and film. Slim was raised in a multi cultural environment, he grew up in Timmendorfer Strand and Lübeck, Germany. He spent six years, from the age of 10 to 16 in Tunis and Jendouba, Tunisia.

Slim had a very "rich" upbringing; as he often describes himself: 'I'm open minded and very European in nature, of Tunisian origins.. I think like an American and I was born in Germany, what more can you ask for? Yes, I am very fortunate, a bon vivant and consider myself World Citizen' he laughed 'I had a very rich upbringing you know. Not meaning money, just culturally. Growing up between two different cultures, between Europe and Africa, going through nine schools and having all of that at my disposal'. The talented musician says the 70s and 80s in particular helped shape his musical journey. 'grew up listening to the likes of Abba, Kraftwerk, Chic, Roxy Music, Queen, Boney M and later Duran Duran, Kajagoogoo, Michael Jackson and many more. When I was living in Tunisia, my Uncles introduced me to Motown, artists like The Temptations, The Commodores and Stevie Wonder, also to Earth Wind and Fire, Kool & The Gang, James Brown, Miriam Makeba and to French chanson, like Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour, Edith Piaf etc. Later as I got older and mature, I got into classical, jazz, opera, swing and other genres' he said. 'was very fortunate to have that experience'.

Encouraged by his schoolmate, Selim Gökduman, a fellow musician and Turkish saz player, Slim made his stage debut on 14 October, 1989 at a Turkish Event, in front of an audience of 580 in Lübeck Hansestadt, Germany.

In 1990 and 1991, Slim tours constantly, performs at local venues, regional clubs, events and singing competitions.

At age 19, Slim makes his TV debut, performing a rendition of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" on the German "Rudi Carrell Show" (which had 17 million viewers that night). The show had a similar concept to "Star Search" or "Pop Idol", Slim achieved second place in the contest and also became "highlight of the year" which brought him a lot of media attention in Europe. Eventually he received offers for record deals from basically every major German record label and went on touring worldwide for the next ten years, sharing the stage with acts like Take That, DJ Bobo, Worlds Apart, Army of Lovers, Haddaway, Captain Hollywood, Dr Alban, Sidney Youngblood, Tic Tac Toe, Mark Owen and many more.

'Everybody can do a Michael Jackson move, but how many dance like Michael and sing "Live" like Michael?' he said 'I can, I understood the challenge, I was able to recreate the whole concept on stage', he notes 'I never thought or felt that I looked much like Michael though, I was never a Michael doppelgaenger in my view you see, I'm very much a singer but I considered myself an actor in those days, I saw myself more of a stage character, a performer, who knew the essence and felt the confidence to play that role well enough, I rehearsed it every single day for hours I remember, the role of Michael Jackson fitted me like a perfect glove, I was able to perform with passion, emotion and power Michael could, and still close as possible though in my humble opinion .. just close as possible, cause NO one can ever reach these exact heights and the unique magic of a Michael Jackson but Michael himself, trust me I witnessed Michael from the side or back of the stage on many occasions!'. Slim had established himself as a household name with his portrayal as the 'King of Pop', virtually overnight and gained the recognition of fans worldwide and from Michael's father Joe Jackson.

In December 1991, Slim attends Deutscher Fernsehpreis (German Television Award, formerly known as 'Telestar'), equivalent to the US. Emmy Awards.

In 1992, Slim becomes one of the main show attractions at the amusement park 'Phantasialand' in Brühl (near Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, performing there for three months, 7 days a week as part of a full-blown Las Vegas style impersonation production, featuring the 'Rudi Carrell Show' greatest contestants.

October 1992, Slim meets with Michael Jackson for the first time (who was on tour with Dangerous) in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

In 1993, Slim tours Austria and in 1994, Sweden, Netherlands, Denmark and Finland.

In winter 1995, Slim makes his United States debut, performs in multiple clubs and events in Las Vegas (Nevada) meets with legendary entertainers and magicians Siegfried & Roy, attends a Barry Manilow concert, visits Flagstaff (Arizona) and the Grand Canyon.

In 1996, Slim gives a two-hour benefit Concert for his native Tunisia, with the support and attendance of the Tunisian Ambassador in Hamburg, Germany. The concert airs simultaneously live on Tunisia's state radio.

1996, Slim gets invited to tour Sri Lanka and Mumbai (India), but cancels at the last-minute due to safety reasons.

In 1997, Slim meets once again with Michael Jackson, travels and works briefly with him on the European leg of History tour as Assistant to Creative Consultant Bruno Falcon aka "Pop N Taco" .

In 1998, the Tunisian TV show 'Klacket', dedicates a one hour special on Slim, it features an in-depth look into his career and an interview followed by a live performance.

In 1999, Slim performs at the German Bowl Tailgate Party (German equivalent of US Super Bowl) at Eintracht-Stadion (capacity 25,000) in Braunschweig, Germany. (This officially marks Slim's final Michael Jackson show)

Between the 90s and 00's, Slim worked and collaborated with many accomplished and popular music producers, dj's, recording artists and many independents. He worked on a variety of music and art related projects including fashion events, most notably with Nsync, Fall Out Boy, The Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears, KRS-One, Sarah Connor, Lifehouse, Panic! At The Disco, Michael Jackson and many more.

In 2000, Slim added actor to his resume, when he works on the comedy "Little Nicky", playing a Demon (uncredited, extra), starring Adam Sandler. Since then, he has appeared in numerous TV and film productions, commercials, music videos, video games and theater on both sides of the Atlantic.

Summer 2002, Slim performs for the first time with original songs in a series of radio Open Air events for NDR and R.SH in Germany and in August, he attends the annual Popkomm (international trade show for the music and entertainment business) in Cologne.

In 2006, Slim produces videos on opening receptions of art exhibitions in Los Angeles, for the Swiss based Vernissage TV.

Summer 2007, Slim returns one more time as Michael Jackson on the Japanese TV show 'Goro's Bar', and works on Britney Spears comeback video "Gimme More".

In 2007, Slim launches the independent record and publishing company DoubaJen Records.

Between September 2007 and April 2008, Slim works at the Los Angeles Opera, under the general direction of legendary tenor and conductor Plácido Domingo.

In May 2008, Slim releases the single "Burn The Disco" worldwide, including remixes by Sinan Mercenk, Thorsten Adam, Marcel Agterhuis and Mhe Hseeri, and was met with an overwhelming success worldwide.

In December 2009, Slim works briefly on 'Code Z : The Zombie Series', directed by Taj Jackson (3T member and Michael Jackson nephew).

In 2010, Slim signs a licensing agreement with Sony Music.

In May 2010, Sony Music releases "Campari-Sunset House Club" [2 CD], featuring Slim K 's 'Burn The Disco (Move & Dance) - Sinan Mercenk's Eat This Remix' in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In October 2010, Slim releases the ballad "Open Up Your Heart" worldwide, which receives some notable success in South America, Japan and the Far East.

Slim is married to Phoenix Kazree, (American, classically trained dancer, competitive pole artist and Broadway performer), they have one son together, Tarek Laziz Khezri (born 9 March 2001, Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California).

Slim resides primarily in Los Angeles, California. He moved in 1998 to help further his creativity and career.

Slim is a superb cook and also fluent in German, Arabic, English, French and conversational in Turkish. He is highly enthusiastic. He gets excited easily over a new idea or opportunity. His nature is unconventional. He's is a bit of a gambler, taking risks whenever he thinks the rewards are worth it. He loves change, new experiences, meeting new people, adventure and travel. He loves the exotic, far away places. Variety is more than mere spice of life - He thrives on it. He is also extremely flexible and adaptable. He has more curiosity than the proverbial cat. Slim has a sharp mind, a great sense of humor and a natural ability with words. He is a born communicator, clear, fluent, and imaginative in every area that interests him - which are many! Change - the only constant in life - does not threaten him, as it does other people.
