(Berlin Wall 20th Anniversary: Germany Celebrates Memory Of The Fall)
20 Years today, WOW oh my how time flies, I remember it as it was yesterday, I was walking late afternoon on Thursday November 9th, 1989 in the city of my hometown Lübeck at the shopping area of Breite Strasse, when the News broke out, people went nuts .. shouting: "The Wall fell .. The Wall fell..". McDonalds was giving free burgers, everybody was celebrating, it was indeed a big Historical moment and I was minutes away from the wall. On Sat. the 11th, My dad drove us to the other side (east), it was amazing it looked like a set build for "Schindler's List" movie, all grey dark gritty and depressive and the poor people lived there for about 40 years .. OMG, all they had was love, hope and determination for a better life in a hopeless situation. My heart goes out to all the victims who got shot at the wall for trying to get out of that eastern dump! xx Slim Khezri ;=)
